Microsoft’s Xbox One Elite Controller Selling Quite Well

EliteEven a year after its initial release, the Microsoft Elite Controller for Xbox One continues to be a big-seller.
“Sales of the Microsoft Xbox Elite Wireless Controller grew 46 percent in November versus the prior year,” reported NPD analyst Sam Naji.
That said, it’s still not quite the best selling gamepad on the market, as PlayStation 4 controllers continue to be a huge draw. “The Sony DualShock 4 was the month’s No. 1 selling gamepad overall,” Naji noted. That said, it’s still insane that a controller priced around $150 can still clear pretty good sales numbers. What’s more, the $199 Gears of War 4 model, featuring a red paint design with similar features to the original Elite pad, is doing quite well too.

With so many gamers already getting the Xbox One console, it makes sense that Elite sales are picking up, since many players are considering it the best controller for their system – despite Microsoft offering various other models of the original controller, including the ability for players to customize their own through the Xbox Design Lab. With its many options and its sturdy build, however, it’s easy to see why the Elite is such a favorite.
Overall sales for controllers are down for the month, though, according to the NPD, as well as console sales. However, with the holiday season in full swing, these numbers are expected to spike again in December – and that means more Elite controllers out the door.
The Elite controller is available now for Xbox One.
