Tom Holland Explains Scariest Spider-Man: Homecoming Scene
On Friday, a day after a pair of Spider-Man: Homecoming trailers were released, Tom Holland participated in a Facebook Live Q&A event to promote his upcoming superhero solo film. The 20-year-old English actor fielded dozens of questions, but one question in particular got him talking about a scary stunt scene that involved his stunt-double being harnessed to a helicopter and being dunked in a lake.
"There was a few things that I could't do," Holland said (transcribed by CBN). "There was some time where they dangled, my poor stunt double under a helicopter and dunked him in a lake," Tom Holland said and then realized what he said and covered his mouth. "Damn it. This is live isn't it. Damn.
"So at one point Spider-Man ends up in a lake," he continued. "I'm going to get in so much trouble now. Oh, no. Yeah. I was like, 'Let me to it. Let me do it." When I saw him do it and get dunked in the lake, I'm so happy I let him do that one because that was the scariest thing I've ever seen. Can you imagine? Flying under a helicopter and being dunked in a lake. I don't get paid enough for that shit. Sorry! Again. Again. I can't help it. I'm sorry."
A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.
The cast features Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, with Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr.. It also includes Jon Favreau, Martin Starr, Kenneth Choi, Michael Mando, Selenis Leyva, Isabella Amara, Jorge Lendeborg, Jr., JJ Totah, Hannibal Buress, and Jacob Batalon.
The film is being directed by Jon Watts (Cop Car), based on a screenplay by Jonathan Goldstein & John Francis Daley (Vacation reboot) and Jon Watts & Christopher Ford and Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers.
