Jurassic World 2 Director Says He Wants To Make A Fun Follow-Up

In an interview with The Playlist, Bayona took time to talk about his involvement with the Jurassic World trilogy and said he’s ready to take a break from darker projects. “After doing ‘The Impossible’ and ‘A Monster Calls’ I said, ‘I want to have fun now.,’” Bayona joked.
“So, let’s do a dinosaur film with Spielberg. It’s great, but at the same time it’s massive and way bigger than [the last] one. “Bayona reiterated those ideas in his most recent interview, saying that Jurassic World 2 will tie the new trilogy and the original together. He said, “I think Colin did a great job in the first one finding the balance between what people are expecting and what people are being again. I was kind of surprised when he pitched me the story because it leads the story to a place that we’ve never seen before and it brings some of the most important elements from the other films and makes something with them. I thought that was very interesting. It’s the second chapter of a trilogy so it gets the story to a place that wants you leaving more and more.”
Production on Jurassic World 2 is set to kick-off next spring, so fans can expect to get more updates on the highly anticipated film once the new year rolls in. For now, film lovers and dinosaur enthusiasts will just have to wait and see how Bayone treads the fine line between fun and fear for fans everywhere.Jurassic World 2 is being directed by J.A. Bayona and stars Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire), Chris Pratt (Owen), Rafe Spall, BD Wong (Dr. Henry Wu/Rumored), Toby Jones, and Justice Smith. The film is being produced by Belen Atienza, Patrick Crowley, and Frank Marshall, with Steven Spielberg, Colin Trevorrow, and Thomas Tull serving as executive producers.
