How Will An Inhumans Series Impact Agents Of SHIELD?
Hawaiian actor Jacob Batalon (North Woods) has only been acting for two years, but he already landed a role in a major motion-picture: Spider-Man: Homecoming. In an interview that took place earlier this month, Batalon was asked to discuss his character in the film.
"Well, Ned Leeds; I play Peter Parker's best friend in the film," Batalon told KHON2. "We are both in high school; we are about fifteen. And it's just about Peter dealing with being a superhero and going through puberty. He still has to worry about homework; he still has to worry about his crush liking him, while trying to save someone who's probably in a burning building. He can't tell anyone because he's not the cool kid, so he's just stuck with this really cool life that he can't tell anyone about." In the comics, Edward "Ned" Leeds first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #18 (November 1964) and was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. He was a Daily Bugle reporter who competed with Peter Parker for Betty Brant's attention. When Parker dropped out of contention, Leeds and Brant move forward with their relationship and got married (didn't go swimmingly). However, he is best known for being captured by the Hobgoblin (Roderick Kingsley) and brainwashed to believe he is the Hobgoblin so that Kingsley can use Leeds as a scapegoat down the line. Once Leeds is no longer needed, Kingsley lets it be known that Leeds is the Hobgoblin, and this leads to the Foreigner killing Leeds. Eventually, Parker deduced that Leeds was set up and got Kingsley to confess. Since I doubt Homecoming will go down that path, I wouldn't be surprised if the filmmakers partly-based him on the version in The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series. In that continuity, his name and ethnicity were changed. He was known as Ned Lee and was Korean-American. He was still a Daily Bugle reporter and had a thing for Betty Brant, but he was very focused on uncovering Spider-Man's identity. A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Marvel Studios' Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging superhero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. The cast features Tom Holland (In the Heart of the Sea), Michael Keaton (Batman, Birdman), Zendaya (K.C. Undercover), Donald Glover (The Martian, Community), Jacob Batalon (North Woods), Laura Harrier (One Life to Live), Tony Revolori (The Grand Budapest Hotel), Tyne Daly (Cagney and Lacey), Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo), with Marisa Tomei (My Cousin Vinny, The Wrestler), and Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man, The Avengers). It also includes Martin Starr (Silicon Valley), Kenneth Choi (The People vs. O.J. Simpson), Michael Mando (Better Call Saul), Selenis Leyva (Orange is the New Black), Isabella Amara (The Boss), Jorge Lendeborg, Jr. (Graceland), JJ Totah (Liv and Maddie), and Hannibal Buress (30 Rock). The film is being directed by Jon Watts (Cop Car, Clown), based on a screenplay by Jonathan Goldstein & John Francis Daley (Vacation reboot) and Jon Watts & Christopher Ford and Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers. The film is produced by Marvel boss Kevin Feige and former Sony boss Amy Pascal. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Patricia Whitcher, Jeremy Latcham, and Stan Lee are serving as Executive Producers.

The 4-night crossover event begins Monday, November 28 on The CW. Finally! The moment we have been waiting for all season long has finally been released. The ultimate in crossover events will occurr on The CW when The Flash, Supergirl, Arrow, andLegends Of Tomorrow converge in the Arrowverse. The trailer gives us a first official look at The Dominators, the alien race that will invade Earth during the upcoming four-show crossover and shows us how our favorite superheroes join together to stop them. They sort of resemble E.T. but in a much more terrifying way and they don't appear to be friendly either! This year, for our mega 'Arrowverse' crossover, we’re taking inspiration from a DC crossover from the late 1980s known asInvasion!, which featured an alien race called the Dominators, who’d previously vexed the Legion of Superheroes," said Arrow and DC's Legends of Tomorrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim. "We’re using cutting edge prosthetics and computer effects to achieve a feature film-quality look which is faithful to Invasion! artist Todd McFarlane’s interpretation of the characters.” Marc Guggenheim, executive producer, has previously told fans their Invasion! arc will be one of the most "ambitious" things they have done over at The CW. “This year, we’re doing by far the most ambitious crossover we’ve ever done. It’s basically a huge three-part story that also brings in Supergirl, so it’s crossing over all four shows. It’s telling one big epic movie of a story. It’s not setting up any other spin-offs, it’s just big, bombastic, huge action. There’s also some really poignant character moments. There’s a lot of plot lines, particularly I would say in Flash and Legends, that come to fruition in the crossover. It’s by far the most ambitious thing we’ve ever attempted. I want to say it’s by far one of the most ambitious things anyone in network television has ever attempted. It’s completely insane.” Supergirl airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT; The Flash on Tuesdays at the same time; Arrow on Wednesdays and DC's Legends of Tomorrow on Thursdays. All four series air on The CW. The "Invasion!" crossover will air beginning November 28. for vidoe just visithttp://comicbook.com/2016/11/15/supergirl-arrow-flash-legends-crossover-trailer-released/comicbook.com/2016/11/15/supergirl-arrow-flash-legends-crossover-trailer-released/
Marvel Television has officially announced an Inhumans TV series is coming to ABC.
The new series will premiere in IMAX commercial theaters, marking the first time a live-action TV series has debuted in such a format. The first two episodes of the ABC series, which is set to arrive in fall of 2017 under the title Marvel's The Inhumans, will run worldwide exclusively in IMAX for two weeks for the beginning of September 2017. ABC will the premiere the series in a weekly format. An Inhumans movie was originally slated for November of 2018 but has been the topic of discussion since being pushed back, then off of Marvel's release schedule. The characters, however, have been introduced throughout Marvel's Agents of SHIELD. ABC, IMAX, and Marvel Television will work together to create a joint marketing and promotion plan for the series -- making it the closest thing to an Inhumans movie, considering the IMAX release format, we will see. This unprecedented alliance represents a bold, innovative approach to launching great TV content for a worldwide audience,” said Ben Sherwood, co-chairman, Disney Media Networks and president, Disney|ABC Television Group. “It highlights Disney|ABC’s unrelenting commitment to finding new and creative ways to showcasing our very best programming and increasing global engagement and reach.” “This first-of-its-kind multi-platform production, distribution and marketing agreement brings together Marvel Television’s unique brand of entertainment, ABC’s unparalleled audience and IMAX’s brand and global fanboy demographic,” said IMAX CEO, Rich Gelfond. “It also takes our decades-long relationship with The Walt Disney Company to a whole new level, jointly breaking new ground in the industry. We are confident our exhibition partners will be excited to work with us on this innovative launch of a series across the IMAX network.” The Inhumans made their debut in Marvel Comics in Fantastic Four #45, published in December of 1945. Several of the character have become well known fan-favorites, such as Black Bolt, who has even garnered the attention and desires of Vin Diesel to play the part. The character were created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee as a race of superhumans with diverse and singularly unique powers. The series will introduce the Inhuman Royal Family to the Marvel Cinematic Universe according Marvel Senior Communications Manager, Joe Taraborelli. "Are you ready to see the Inhuman Royal Family on TV?" Taborelli said. "You better get ready!"
For years, rumors have circled about Marvel Studios and their interest in an Inhumansfeature. Those beliefs were confirmed when the company confirmed they were developing an Inhumans film, but plans for the project slowly fell apart. Fans wondered whether the superhuman team would ever make its way to the screen, and now fans know they will. Marvel has just announced that an Inhumans television series will debut in Fall 2017 in a move that has shocked fans.
With yet another series under its belt, Marvel TV is situating itself as one of the more prolific studios on network television. Currently, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD stands as the only cable program under the studio’s control, so fans are already asking an obvious question: How will an Inhumans series impact Agents of SHIELD? Well, the new show could change plenty. That is, if Marvel TV allows the two series to mingle. The Inhumans made themselves known on Agents of SHIELD during the second season when Agent Coulson’s team discovered the existence of terrigenesis. In true comic book fashion, zealots threatened to use the process to convert ‘blessed’ humans into Inhumansand destroy those without alien DNA. The plan was apparently foiled, but fans learned that millions of citizens were still exposed to terrigenesis. As such, Agents of SHIELD had an influx of superhuman characters who used their powers to various ends - and the existence of Inhumans eventually got outed to the public. Plus, there's also the fact that the show's female lead is an Inhuman herself; Daisy Johnson is better known these days as Quake, and her superhuman gifts will shake you to your core. Currently,Agents of SHIELD is in its fourth season, and its storylines continue torevolve around the existence of Inhumans. The series recentlyreinstated SHIELD under a new director who doubles as an Inhuman, but the intelligence group has been preoccupied lately with the arrival of Ghost Rider. When the Inhumans series airs next year, Agents of SHIELD will be heading into its fifth season, and the series is on-track to continue its superhuman exploration. However, it seems like Inhumans might resist a crossover when the show debuts. How so? It comes down to the show’s character line-up. While details about the upcoming series are sparse, Marvel Entertainment did say that the Royal Family will feature in the new series. If you are not familiar with the Royal Family, you should know those Inhumans are the most popular and well-known in the Marvel Universe. Characters such as Black Bolt, Medusa, and Karnak are housed within the ruling class - but they have have only be alluded to on Agents of SHIELD. If Inhumans is poised to take place on Attila, it would be difficult for Agents of SHIELD to fold into the series. However, if the Royal Family were to find themselves on Earth, then SHIELD would probably rear its head to address its powerful visitors. The true crossover potential between Inhumans and Agents of SHIELD will probably only be recognized if (1) the former rakes in ratings and (2) the latter retains its audience. Marvel has invested time and energy into its new series, so they would surely hesitate to convolute its storyline with a crossover. But, if fans are lucky, they might just get to watch Team Coulson run into a Lockjaw while the superpowered dog is on a walk. |
