Fast and Furious 8 Release Date, Cast, Storyline, Rumours and Controversies: All you need to know
Fast and Furious 8: Actor Paul Walker‘s untimely and unexpected demise in 2013 had upset fans all over the world and many questioned if the franchise that made him so popular would find a way to continue on without him. Dominic Toretto’s gang is undeniably incomplete without former LAPD officer Brian O’Conner. But now fans are well aware that the eighth instalment in the series, titled Fast 8 or Fast and Furious 8, is on its way, and while there will be no Paul Walker, much of the earlier cast will be making a comeback in the upcoming film to give fans a serious action high.
Fast and Furious 8 Plot: Filming for Fast 8 has been wrapped up but not much is known about the storyline of the upcoming movie. But what we know is that many of the earlier characters from the earlier instalments, including Kurt Russell and Jason Statham who were introduced to the franchise in Fast and Furious 7, will be retained. Russell had played Mr Nobody, the Belgian ale loving special ops leader who helped Vin Diesel’s Dom fight Shaw (played by Jason Statham) in return for bringing him the God’s Eye. We can all but surmise that in the new film Mr Nobody will have a new seemingly impossible mission for Dom and his pals to embark on, which will set off the plot. Fast 8 has been shot in Cuba, New York, Atlanta and Cleveland, and is currently in post-production.
Fast and Furious 8 Cast: The upcoming film will introduce some renowned faces, including Helen Mirren, Monster actress Charlize Theron, and Kristofer Hivju of Game of Thrones fame. Interestingly, Theron and Hivju will be cast in the film in negative roles. Helen Mirren, on the other hand, is rumoured to play someone close to Jason Statham’s character. Lucas Black, who had starred in a central role in Tokyo Drift beside Sung Kang, will also be returning for Fast and Furious 8. Regular cast members include Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Bridges, Tego Calderon, Dwayne Johnson, and Elsa Pataky. Fast 8 is also said to star Scott Eastwood as a cop.
Fast and Furious 8, Controversy: Fast 8 will be the first film in the franchise after Tokyo Drift to not star Paul Walker. However, the deceased actor’s fans have made grave objections to the rumours floating around that suggest that the filmmakers are planning to use some of his earlier clips in the upcoming film. Many see this as disrespectful of the actor’s memories, which they feel should be left untampered.
Walker died before the completion of Fast and Furious 7 after which the makers were compelled to use Walker’s younger brothers, Cody and Caleb Walker, to recreate the series regular’s presence on screen for a concluding scene. It is rumoured that Cody and Caleb Walker may be back on board the upcoming film for the same purpose. Fans agree that this second option will be a better way to pay respect to the actor instead of editing in some of the scenes he had shot for the earlier films in the franchise.
Fast and Furious 8 Release Date: Fast and Furious 8, or Fast 8 as it is better known as, will hit theatres in the US on April 14, 2017. We’ll keep our readers posted about all future developments of the film, including trailers, storyline, and more. Stay tuned.
