Arrow's Stephen Amell Says Oliver Will Find Closure In 100th Episode

If fans of Arrow were to commiserate over Oliver Queen’s tragic past, the recounting could take days. The DC Comics vigilante has lived a rough life despite his silver spoon upbringing. The CW has taken gone to painstaking lengths to show fans how much Queen has suffered and how his loss drives his work as the Green Arrow, but is all about to change. In the 100th episode of the show, Oliver will be reunited with all his lost loved ones, and Stephen Amell says his character finds closure in that.
In an interview with TV Line, Amell talked about the milestone episode and said the story will be very different from what Arrow fans have seen before.
“It is such a radical departure from anything that we have ever done on the show,” Amell told the site. “We utilize the fantastical elements that we bring in on The Flash and carry through to Legends of Tomorrow with the present-day storyline to create something...that is not a flashback [or] a flash-forward. It’s something else entirely.”
The actor continued and said the episode’s loose timeline gives Arrow “license to do whatever we want” and “show some things that we’ll never be able to show, to have some characters interact that will never be able to interact on the show again.”
If you’re not familiar with the 100th episode, then you should know it will bring back several important characters. The milestone story will see Oliver Queen wake up in a world where he never went aboard The Queen’s Gambit and both his parents are alive. In this world, Oliver is still in a relationship with Laurel, and the two are preparing to get married. On the surface, the hero’s life looks better than ever, but Oliver begins to notice that not everything is as perfect as it seems.
In true comic book fashion, Oliver’s bliss won’t last. When the episode ends, the hero will be thrust back to his real world of vigilantism and supernatural threats. But, for the first time, Amell says Oliver will be given closure in the 100th episode.
“There [is] a very therapeutic moment for my character towards the end [of the Arrow episode] where I get to say goodbye to people that I never got the chance to say goodbye to,” Amell explained.
